LINCOLN CHILDLINE RED 1-3 ST.JOSEPH’S FC
The Under 7’s Argus Cup Final saw the two strongest under 7’s league teams come face to face in what promised to be a thrilling match. With both teams giving everything in what was a very equal match, St Joseph’s took the early lead and were pushing for a second but the Lincoln side stayed strong and had chances of their own to level the score.
The turning point of the game hinged on a controversial decision by the referee on awarding a goal that no one bar the referee seemed sure that the ball had actually crossed the line. Despite this huge setback Lincoln bounced back with a powerful free kick by Martinez and then went all out to level the match. Despite further pressure from Lincoln they could not convert their chances and St Joseph’s broke away and scored a classic counter attack goal to take the final. A great final with excellent football played by both teams which in the end was deservedly won by St Joseph’s.
