LINCOLN RED IMPS FC CHILDLINE 1-1 EUROPA FC GHC
(Lincoln win 3 – 1 on penalties)
The under 11 Argus Cup Final saw the younger under 11 Lincoln side go up against the older Europa under 11 side in what proved to be a thrilling match between two very good footballing sides. Lincoln broke the deadlock first with a well worked moved culminating in a sweet scorpion strike by Lee Chipolina. With the score remaining at 1 – 0 at the interval Europa had it all to do in the second half. In another exciting half Europa finally got back on level terms through another excellently taken goal. Despite both sides pushing for the winner neither was able to break the deadlock and with the match finishing at 1 -1 with the draw being a fair result, it meant the lottery of penalties would decide the cup.
Playing with discipline and composure, whilst displaying the right attitude throughout, though the Lincoln side were younger they matched Europa in all aspects of the game and this is a credit to the side.
This continued into the penalty shootout with Lincoln converting all three of their penalties and Del Rio saving the first clinching the cup for Lincoln winning the penalty shootout 3 -1.
An excellent achievement with this side being only the second team to win the cup back to back despite moving up an age and being the younger ones of their age group.
